For the benefits of those who don't update themselves on NEWSPAPER.
Following summarised information is extracted from Tuesday's Straits Times, under HOME.
CONFICKER. C, latest variant of the Conficker worm, is the fourth generation of the worm since it was first discovered last year.
According to SingCert, Conficker creator regularly comes up with improved versions of the worm to foil efforts to remove it.
Conficker targets computer running Microsoft Windows software (I think many of us do right?!), automatically jumping from one computer to another over a local network or by hitching a ride on portable storage devices like the USB drives.
Its key features is its ability to call up a "master computer".
It also disables security features like Microsoft Windows' automatic update.
It is claimed that only computers with new UPDATED security signatures are less vulnerable to Conficker C.
Conficker has claimed more than 10 million victims worldwide including the computers used by British Parliament.
Isn't it malicious as it appears?
It is the FOURTH when the first was only LAST YEAR??!
Constantly check out if your computer is infected or how to remove it ..
