Entry 122: H1N1 Influenza A

When everyone started to be extra cautious as it has hit Singapore,
we never really find it too threathening cos it was said to be curable as long as treatment is taken as soon as it is being discovered.

However, according to the statistics found at..

"As of 06:00 GMT, 3 June 2009, 66 countries have officially reported 19,273 cases of influenza A(H1N1) infection, including 117 deaths. "

Isn't the figure a lil too disturbing?

We thought it isn't as bad as SARS which caught us unprepared.
And experts, I supposed, would still emphasize that it isn't too difficult to handle those patients.

However, reading the rate at how it is spreading, how could you not worry?
People wanted to come back to Singapore, those residents here who went for probably a business trip or so.
We find them irresponsible.
To be heading out of the country and bringing back the disease.
We simply detest them.

Looking in retrospect, we should not oversee the possibility of a pandemic.
We MUST be careful but not overdo it.

"Why are we so worried about this pandemic possibility when thousands die every year from seasonal epidemics?
Seasonal epidemics occur every year and we are able to treat the virus with seasonal vaccines. A pandemic is a worldwide epidemic. It is a new virus and one to which the populations will have no immunity."

Economic downturn is affected.
And H1N1 is not going to cease so soon.
What is it that we could contribute or do?

BE RESPONSIBLE.
Cover your mouth when you sneeze or couth.
Consult a doctor near your vacinity as soon as you realise the signs and symptoms of H1N1
Do NOT overlook your flu or fever or any other sickness - be it mild or severe.
Stay at home and avoid going to crowded places if you're feeling unwell.

CSJL,

ermm. I'm not too sure cos the trips are always with his parents.

Do you or your husband happen to have an account on fishingkaki.com?

Or possible, send me a photo of you guys to zeroperfection.wayne@gmail.com.

I'll ask his dad about it (:
FYI: a trip is from morning to evening and at a cost of about $60-70 depending on the fee of the boat trip.

^^
